I love it when a plan comes together!
We just arranged for next weekend in Wasaga. Looks like we will stay in a Hotel in Barrie. Marcio’s wife works for Holiday Inn and can get us a deal. I didn’t know how to approach the topic with Jamie. He asked how many rooms and I said, “Uh. Do you mind sleeping with a girl?” I mean you never know. he has me, Bobbie or Rachel to choose from. he might decide that he wants his own room! His repsonse, “3 girls and myself? No, nothing to be sorry about. If you can handle having a guy in the room.” So that’s cool. Problem is…I think we all want to sleep with him!!
So we are all set. We play on Tuesday at Barangas and will finalize the plans then. Jamie will take his own car, and Rachel Bobbie and I will drive seperatly. Nith is taking his son and wife, so they will be taking their won car. Marcio is working nights, and will come up Saturday morning with his wife.
Yesterday we went down to Confederation Park to play a little volleyball. I got burnt in the sun, so i will definatly be wearing plenty of sunblock. We were only out for 2 hours! Next weekend i play from 9AM - 6PM! I am so excited that I can hardly type!

Wow. I just had some excitement for the evening. Bobbie came over, and then we went to get something to eat. She met Dino. That in itself is a rarity. He is now being referred to as “Polkaroo” by some.
But that wasn’t the exciting part. I am sitting here…playing a game before I go to bed….and I hear sirens. My balcony door is open…so I look out. I see the reflection in the window of the building behind me…and realise that they are stopping out front. So I quickly got dressed and went outside to see the commotion.
There were 3 EMS units and an ambulance that was pulling up. They starting pulling the stretcher out and headed into the bar I live across the street from.
Just then some girl comes running out. Screaming, “where’s my bag?!?!”. She was followed by a man who starting yelling at her. She yelled back. A cop pulls up. The girl turns around and starting beating on the man. 3 more cops pull up quickly. They grabbed the girl who started to fight back, This angered the man, and he too began to fight the police. I think another 8 cruisers, 4 from each direction showed up. The entire street was lit with flashing emergency lights.
The man and woman were thrown to the ground. I have no idea what was going on, just that the entire police force ended up in front of my home. I witnesses first hand poice brutality. the man was screaming on the ground that he was bleeding. “Oh god! I’m bleeding. You fucking assholes!” It was kind of frightening. The first thought that went though my head was that I needed to move. This is too much for me to handle.
According to my neighbours, this happens quite often. 2 days earlier there were about 20 police cruisers and a gun was flung into the hedges of my place by some 27-year-old who went running from the police. I knew nothing about this. It is pretty quite in the back of the building.
This is getting scary. What are we living in….America?
My city is hosting the World Road Cycling Championships. This weekend is the Nationals. The core of the city is shut down for the weekend for these events. And in October it will be shut down for a week.
With all the chaos going on…I think that I would really like to move. Move away from here. Perhaps back to the farm where I can keep my head in the sand and ignore that events like tonight happen.

Can’t wait
I am so excited! Tonight we were planning for the weekend in Wasaga for the Beach Volleyball tournament. It’s going to be so awesome! Three days of being completely comatosed in the sun.
We are short a couple people, so we asked this guy Jamie. I had seen him around, but never actually spoke with him. I got his phone number/email address and added it to my Palm. Handy that is. No one had a pen! My notes on him say, “cute guy - Potential for Wasaga Tournament“. We’ll see what happens
. Even if we don’t end up playing, Bobbie and I plan on driving up for the day.

Another weekend gone. Back to work tomorrow, and life returns to normal. I love weekends. I love the “do whatever I want” attitude that I can have.
I went to Fortinos today for groceries and found the coolest thing! Shopping as usual, but when we got to the check-out, it was self-serve! I had never seen anything like it. You scan your own groceries, and it’s all touch screen for your produce. You can pay by cash, debit or credit card. It tells you to put your groceries in the bag, and it measures weight, so you can’t remove them. If you do, it locks up, and someone comes over to you. the system isn’t flawless, and I would definitely not recommend it for your weekly, or worse yet, monthly groceries. But for quick stuff, and non-produce items, it can be fast and easy. They have it at the Fortinos on Plains Road, beside Ikea and apparently the one on Mall Road as well. The girl said that they would starting it at the one on Appleby too. It’s still in testing phase, just to see how the customers work with it. They only got it a month ago. My grocery bill seemed a little larger than normal, but with the excitement of something new, it didn’t seem to bother me.

And now I have cable…so far so good!
The cable guy knew nothing about computers. He didn’t even know ipconfig! Well he did…when I refreashed his memory….so he knew only to release and renew. That’s about it. Oh well…I guess his job is only to “install the cable”…and make sure I get a signal. I guess I was expecting something else. Whatever.
Bye bye Sympatico! It’s been a good 3 years, but time for a change.

So here I sit waiting for cable guy to come….sometime between noon and 5pm…they never come right @ noon do they!?!?
Luckily, my volleyball tournament was cancelled. Well not luckily, I am disappointed. It would have been a great day for a tournment too! It’s not very hot, but there is still enough sun to get a tan! I scheduled the cable to be installed today, forgeting about the tournament. Opps!
So my friends and I were going to plan a picnic instead. Down at the beach. So if this cable guy would ever get here….I would be able to meet them and play a little volleyball!
What a waste of a day….waiting for cable guy.

This is a better geek test though:
| You are 40% geek |
You are a geek liaison, which means you go both ways. You can hang out with normal people or you can hang out with geeks which means you often have geeks as friends and/or have a job where you have to mediate between geeks and normal people. This is an important role and one of which you should be proud. In fact, you can make a good deal of money as a translator.
Normal: Tell our geek we need him to work this weekend.
You [to Geek]: We need more than that, Scotty. You’ll have to stay until you can squeeze more outta them engines!
Geek [to You]: I’m givin’ her all she’s got, Captain, but we need more dilithium crystals!
You [to Normal]: He wants to know if he gets overtime.

It is official. I have made the move to cable. I recently switched my Residential phone service to Sprint, who doesn’t support DSL, so I have no choice. In order to save a couple bucks, I will be leaving Bell. It’s been nearly 3 years that I have used them. Why do I feel scared? Is it because I am afraid of change? Do I fear that if I leave what I am comfortable with, that I won’t be happy with what I choose? This I guess can be said the same for my relationships. What I really want, I will probably never have. All because of comfort. Bah!

So I finished my fish. They are all still living (for now). They actually look happy.
My stupid fish light, that I thought didn’t work because it just needed a new bulb, doesn’t work because the switch is broken! So me trying to be all handy, decide to open it up and “fix” the switch. Apparently, according to my very clever cousin, it would be best just to replace the switch. “You don’t want anything electrical to be faulty around water.” Point taken. Enough scares tonight with the power bar. I guess I need to go over to his house tomorrow and pick up switch. He has lots of useful pieces lying around. That’s if I ever get off the phone with him. I have been talking to him since 1:30AM and listening to music. Old music. Stuff from our past and we are reminiscing. Well more like he is, and I was just cleaning my fish.
Now with the doors and windows open, the fish smell in here is almost gone!
