I went to this charity fundraiser gala tonight for work. Well not for work, but we support the organisation, and were one of the corporate sponsors. It was kinda cool seeing our name next to a lot of big companies. And I think our logo looked this nicest, even next to CIBC, Licks, Brooks and many others.

There was a silent auction, and public as well for some of the larger items. I bid on 2 different items. I put 2 bids on this MINI chronograph watch for my boyfriend, and 2 bids on some cool stepping stones for my mom’s garden. I was out-bid on both. I think I will make some stepping stones for my mom’s birthday. Even though it was for charity, I know she’ll appreciate the ones I make more.

I was in line at one of the buffets and this good looking guy walked by. One of the guys I work with looks at me and said something that I didn’t quite hear. I thought it was something about catching me staring at the guy. What? I thought he was hot. Turned out he was Donovan Bailey. I thought the guys were lying. The guys threatened to tell him I named my dead cat after him. They made me sound like some psycho-obsessive girl, but that was the summer he won the Gold at the Olympics for Canada! I guess our client, who’s responsible for this charity fundraiser is friends with him. Another friend of his, The Million Dollar Man; not that I am into wrestling. As a retired CFL football player, he knows a lot of people.

The food was good, and I decided a must have for my wedding is a Chocolate Fountain. I don’t really like chocolate (I don’t hate it either - just not a choc-o-holic), but when you dip fruit (strawberries specifically) it’s amazing. And I love fruit. The dessert was perfect. I am always taking “a little everything”, so this way it wasn’t too much and I didn’t make myself sick.

Today at work, just as I was leaving this guy says, “Hey come here and see this. Do you get sick easy?” I said, “naw. It’s all good. What is it?” “It’s a video of The al Qaeda decapitating an American.”

I don’t watch the news, mainly because I have an addictive personality and obsess over anything until I kill it. So, to be uninvolved in world events is an uneducated decision of mine, but I am happy living in my bubble.

And now I know why, I come home and start reading more; beginning my obsession. The images won’t leave my mind.

I suppose if I were an American, things may affect me differently. But I try to ignore propaganda too.

I have nothing more to say. I have to go back under my rock.

Blogger has changed their entire interface. What a shocker when I log in, and have no idea what’s going on!

But I have to admit, I do like the feature that they have added where I am able to email posts. That’s cool. I think that feature was available with BloggerPro before. They have also added comments. Not that anyone leaves comments on my blog so it doesn’t really matter, and until now third party comment services were only available.

Well I’ll have to explore more when I have more time. I also really need to change the design of my blog. This is getting pretty old, but it serves it’s purpose.

I need to get to bed. Since I didn’t sleep well last night, I have some catching up to do. If my damn gas would just go away so I could be comfortable. I guess is serves me right since I made a ton of chili, and have been eating it the last 3 days!

what kind of social software are you?

Uncategorized07 May 2004 09:09 pm

Do you ever go through a day, experiencing amusing event after amusing event…thinking to yourself, “gee…so-and-so would really appreciate this/that.” Or in some cases, “I should go home and write about this in my blog”.

But when you get home, or you see the person that would appreciate what you saw/said/heard/did, you forget.

This is my problem.

Upon reflection of my day, I tend to find that nothing happened. So I write, talk about what I am doing right now. Absolutely nothing.

I blame technology. Technology allows me to forget. Data comes in, and goes out of my brain as soon as it happens. I no longer need to remember what I did 5 minutes ago, because I just type it out. Type type type. I spend my life, making notes, logging calls and sending people instant messages as soon as things happen. All that information can be retrieved later.

So basically, my memories lay within text completely searchable, and thanks to the internet, always accessible.

No wonder I no longer have a short term memory.

Therefore, the fact that my computer needs more memory parallels that fact that I am loosing mine.

I was asked to delete my last 3 posts. It’s not like anyone reads this anyways. Just the person I am angry at. As I have said before, I don’t use names, and for God’s sake THIS IS MINE! As in my thoughts and feelings. Now your judging what I think and feel? I can’t win.

I felt a sense of relief with your semi-apologetic email, and anger as I read the end asking me to delete posts.

Look, I apologized to you for the harsh things I said, but you’re going to have to realize I need space too, my “Room to Breathe”.

I miss you, I love you, good night.
