I had an abundance of laundry, so I took it all to the laundry-mat tonight to get it all done at once.

If you’re a people watcher, the laundry-mat is definately a place to go.

Then I started wondering, “how many people aren’t wearing underwear?”

My brother has been in Ecuador now for 10 months.

Quick history:

My brother went to Galapagos Island in second year university to teach English. His goal: become fluent in another language. There he met a girl. He’s been flying back and forth a few times a year since (at $2000 a pop!) to see her. Last fall he flew down to ask her parents if he could marry her. A few months later he flew down again and they were married. He knocked her up that night too. 3 months ago, I became an aunt again.

I’ve never met my sister-in-law; and now I have never yet met my nephew either. They won’t permit her to even visit Canada, as she is viewed as a flight risk. She didn’t have enough travel experience, and they didn’t think she had enough reason to return home; despite the fact that her family is there and she’s in university.

So my brother has been dealing with the long waits and all the paper work. Last week his wife (my sister-in-law) was granted her permanent residence in Canada. However she has to get here before March 30th, or else re-apply (costing another $1000, and another year potentially).

On Sunday night I get an email from my brother:

Jane LockhartLast weekend was the 2006 Autoshow in Toronto. This weekend was the 2006 Hamilton Home Show. I dragged my boyfriend there for 1:30 just so I could see Jane Lockhart’s presentation on the 2006 Benjamin Moore colours. He must really love me.

The show was…ok. I think I need to own a home to be more impressed. I could care less about shingles, gutter guards/cleaning, central air, central vac. I just want to see the decorating shit.

There were a few exhibitors that interested me. My cable provider was there for one. Normally I would just walk by, but I have been toying with the idea of finally getting digital cable. After learning that I wouldn’t be paying any more than what I was paying now, and would actually save $2.00/month for bundling services, I couldn’t say no any longer. Damn. They got me.

Now I can’t wait for my box to ship! I just called to see if I could just pick it up instead. I must drive the poor customer service people nuts when I call. I am sure my profile flashes CRAZY when I call them.

Who cares. I only watch 4 channels anyways. I’m just excited that now I can go to volleyball on Thursday nights and not have to tape anything.

They say most will remember you for your role on the “The Andy Griffith Show“; but to me you’ll always be squirrelly Ralph Furley.

Thank God It’s Finally (Fucking) Friday!

I got a new roommate today. I now share my office with a really nice woman. She moved across the hall, and another lady came back downstairs and took her old desk.

I should appreciate how technologically challenged this entire office is. I heard from across the room amidst the move, “wow that was really easy to do! They colour code everything on the back so you know where to plug everything in! Genius!” She was re-setting up her work station. Then I hear, “but why won’t it turn on? The lights on.”

I look over. She’s innocently was trying to figure out what happened. I told her that was the power to her monitor. She asked if I could look at it. I get up and walk over. She then holds up the POWER CABLE and says, “I had this left over, do you know what it is for?”

Wow.

Then I made the BIGGEST sacrifice a geek could ever make. I gave up my internet connection. I’m not dependent on it for work, and well…she is. So I suggested, since we’re moving anyways, that she could just take my connection.

I felt lost and violated somehow.

Wow #2 was trying to explain that, “no her email wouldn’t be lost” because she moved her computer, and “no you won’t get my email now that she is using my connection.”

So ya. T.G.I.F.F. Atleast we all were able to have lunch together today in the board room, and leave 1/2 hour early. No complaints there.

What’s lined up for the weekend? The 2006 Canadian International Autoshow. It’s our 3rd annual year.

Complaints Department and Life's Events & Observations23 Feb 2006 07:17 pm

Growing up on a farm, the plethora of smells can be over whelming. My father has always shrugged my complaints off as “well you and ‘your mother’ have good noses.” So I just assumed that he couldn’t smell.

Over the years though I have come to believe that my sense of smell is quite keen; being both a detriment to my daily living and an asset.

  • Fire = good = safe
  • Garbage = bad = gag (I actually can’t help retching)
  • Cat = ? = sneeze (actually I don’t “smell” cat - I just sneeze when one is around or can tell if you have one)
  • Cat urine = bad = gag
  • Cooking = bad = nausea
  • Cooking = good = hunger
  • Pot = ? = headache

So basically, living in a building with multiple dwellings drives me insane. I walk in tonight, pot. Up the stairs into my hallway, foreign cooking. Into my apartment, smoke (from my neighbour smoking downstairs – I quit nearly a year ago), and an odd smell that I can’t determine.

Shit. I left the most disgusting juice out on the counter the night before, and forgot it even in the morning. It bubbled when I picked it up.

Booster Juice’s “Lemon Charger”.

Carrot, Lemon & Beet. Crisp and clean, your tastebuds will love this choice!

Bullshit.

Just a word of warning: Fucking disgusting. Extremely high in vitamins etc., but so gross tasting.

Down the toilet it went and then I left my apartment to go back into the world and adjust to a whole new set of smells.

I know I’ve been neglectful, and I’ve decided I am not going to make any excuses. Dammit it’s my blog. I haven’t forgotten, I just didn’t know “how to get back into it”. So I stopped. I’m notorious for avoidance.

As guilt ridden as I have become (wtf for?), I’ll just forget everything and continue on.

So once again, I’ll just say “screw it” and just start like there was no existence of a hiatus. I’ll just periodically say “back in 2005″ and that will be that.

Now on with the show….

It’s Friday night. Friday night after a loooooonnnnngggg week. I’m exhausted.

I get home from work and call my boyfriend to find out what his plans were. (Ya ya…we got back together. I’ll explain that, and my abrupt absence another time.) He says, “lemme call ya back in about 2 minutes. I’ve just gotta go back to the office and pick up my laptop.

15 minutes or more go by.

“Screw this. I’ve havin’ a beer.”

He calls. Put some clothes on, we’re going out for dinner.

Yup. he knows me. First thing I do when I get home, take off the clothes and sit on my computer in my underware/pj’s. I come home and get comfy. Makeup stays on until bedtime, but the hair comes down and the pants and bra come off.

If there is anyone that comes home from the office and stays in their suit (tie included), or their skirt and panty hose, well I don’t wanna know. You need to relax and lighten up a bit.

Just thought I’d share.

The sun is out, it’s -6 degrees outside but I don’t care. We finally have sunshine! I’m going for a walk.

I think I hibernated while the sun went away.

Getting up @ 6AM and leaving the house when it’s still dark @ 7:15AM, doesn’t put me in the greatest spirits. Traveling home in the dark @ 6PM doesn’t help either.

Gonna put my hat and mitties on and get outta here.

Makes you feel great when you fix the President of a muli-billion dollar company’s email.

Makes you feel even better when he thinks you’re the shit. :)
